Batteries Needed
In our living room is a lovely lantern which was a gift to me. The lantern has what looks like a light bulb in the center. This simple light is battery operated. It gives a lovely glow at night in the room when the house is still and lights have been turned off for the evening. It is a simple reminder that that sometimes the smallest amount of light can make all the difference in the darkness of night. However, the light is powered by a battery. Without a power source, the light has no impact. A fresh battery is what is necessary for light to be cast in the darkness of the room. Right now the difference between light and darkness is a simple battery.
What is keeping you from bringing light into the world within which you live? What is keeping you from bringing light and hope into the darkness and despair which at times may be overtaking the places where you find yourself?
If my lantern is to bring light it has to have a battery. I have learned that if I want to help bring light and hope then I need to be re-charging my own “batteries”. What is it that energizes you? What helps to recharge you to be able to make a difference in the places you find yourself? For me it can be a walk/run, reading a book, taking a nap, reading Scripture, or even eating an ice cream cone. These things help me to recharge my batteries. What do you do which helps you to recharge? Take time to make a list. Determine what it is that helps you. One little act can help to energize you so you can make a difference in the places you find yourself.
I think I will take a walk and eat some ice cream — care to join me.
