Running to God
“Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish.” Jonah 2:1 (ESV)
Jonah is in quite a predicament. He finds himself in the belly of a fish, and it is there that he reaches out to God.
Many times, we find ourselves in the same situation as Jonah. We know God, but we have neglected to spend time in conversation with Him. At times, like Jonah, we even run from His presence. Then suddenly, we decide to stop running and turn our attention back to God. Once again, we begin a conversation with Him through prayer.
And just as Jonah discovered, God is still there. He hears us even in the lowest places of our lives. No matter how far we have wandered, when we turn back to Him, we find grace, forgiveness, HIs love, and the reminder that His presence has never left us.
When you think about your own prayer life, what has your conversation with God been like lately? What might be keeping you from spending time in conversation with God? Have you been walking closely with Him in prayer, or have you allowed distance to grow? And if there has been distance, what might it look like for you to turn your attention back to Him today?
God is ready to hear from you.
