In Jonah 1:17, we read these words: “And the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights” (ESV).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you ever been caught off guard by an event that seemed to come out of nowhere? Being swallowed by a great fish would certainly qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This moment in Jonah’s life is not only a powerful lesson but also a means by which God protects and preserves His prophet’s life. In this act of compassion, God gives Jonah a chance to repent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three days and three nights in the belly of the fish become a display of God’s grace, giving Jonah another opportunity to carry out the calling God had placed on his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, we not only see the sovereignty of God, but we also recognize the grace of God. He is a God of miracles, and this is one Jonah personally experienced.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet this miracle is not only about Jonah. In this act of saving Jonah, we also see God’s desire to save the people of Nineveh, who were drowning in sin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What looked like judgment was actually mercy. And sometimes the very thing we would never choose becomes the very thing God uses to rescue us, redirect us, and remind us that His grace is never finished with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
